I was reading an article yesterday about the trials and tribulations of American cosplayers in the late seventies and early eighties, sometimes watching unsubtitled anime at conventions with a translator on hand to explain what was being said, and it really struck me how the landscape for finding and watching anime has changed so much, even in just the decade and a half since I became a fan.
